From the Editor: Some Like It Hot

I realize that some like it hot. The weather, I mean, of course. I'm not one of them. I'd prefer the temperature to stay below eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit and for the relative humidity to stay below fifty percent, but alas, that it not likely in July where I live. I can't stay cooped up inside all the time, so, I deal with it. A cool drink, a shady tree, and nice breeze can usually make even a warm, humid day bearable. Even better, reading a fascinating story can transport me to another time and place, and help me forget about my sweltering surroundings.

That's what we offer to you in this issue of Empyreome Magazine: six chances to escape the heat, to forget your surroundings. But still, some like it hot. And that's okay, because these stories are red hot. Enjoy.
